Get the Right License for a Bar
In order for your bar to be able to serve alcoholic beverages you’ll need to have a liquor license. There are several different types of liquor licenses that bar owners need to be aware of. The name of each license may be different for your area but each one has its own set of guidelines so you’ll need to pick the one that best suits your bar. If you want to learn more about the types of licenses that are available for bar owners check out our article on there here.

Displaying a Liquor License
Once you have your liquor license and your bar is opening you’ll have to keep your liquor license on display. You’ll want to place the license in a conspicuous place, this way it will always be in the open where customers can see it. Find a nice frame or place it somewhere that will make it feel like part of the decor.

Number of Licenses Issued in a Town
Your local government will limit the amount of licenses that can be issued in certain areas. This will depend on the amount of people in the location that you are wanting to open your bar. Before settling on a location be sure and check with your local government to ensure that you can indeed open a bar on the premises you are looking at.

Serving Food at a Bar
For your bar to be successful you’ll need to have the right menu to compliment your alcoholic beverages. Sometimes in bars there will only an appetizer menu and if that is the case for your bar you’ll want your finger foods to be on par with your drinks. Most bars will have a full menu to choose from and if this is the case for your bar there will be a lot more to consider when choosing food to compliment your drinks. Don’t forget that most bars typically have some sort of “Happy Hour” that is a time to serve food and drinks for a discounted price to pull in a crowd. Serving food at your bar can sometimes be as important as what alcohol you serve.
