Selling Home Brewed Beer
Each year over one million Americans brew beer at their home at least once a year. There are many kits and guides to help you learn how. Many other people also chose to produce their own wine. Many people use what they have learned by brewing in their home to start their own business and for many brewing is just a hobby.
Weather brewing is a hobby or a start of a skill one question always remains; can I see my home brewed beer?
Home Brewed Beer Must Stay in Your Home
Home brewing beer is legal in many states and does not require a special permit. There is a general rule that all states follow; only 100 gallons of beer or wine per adult, per year, and up to 200 gallons per house hold. This is generally more than enough for the average brewer. You can even have people over to your home and let them drink what you have brewed but cannot let it ever leave your house.
Brewing beer in your home is very legal, selling it however is never legal. Some believe that selling the bottle and including the beverage for free or selling shares in the ingredients is a way around that but it is not. No matter how you cut it, selling home brewed beer is illegal.
If you are wanting to sell your home brewed beer you are either going to have to license the recipe to a brewer or open a brewery outside of the home. This is going to ensure that you are not in any violation of the law and can sell your brewed beer.
